Another Procedure on the Horizon

We are headed back to hospital!

Although it is tempting to believe it is truly just so Henry can see his many nurse girlfriends (two in particular...) it is actually because his echocardiogram on the 15th showed more narrowing at the repair site than his cardiologist here, and the cardiac surgeons in Madison, are comfortable with. [And, therefore, more than WE are comfortable with.]

So, Henry will undergo a balloon catheterization this week to break up some of the scar tissue and hopefully get everything under the appropriate amount of pressure.*

*Not to be copyright infringed by Vanilla Ice later.

The bright spot in the echo was that his aortic valve no longer appears to be bicuspid, nor have any stenosis, so...awesome.

On the one hand, we are already familiar with the hospital, the doctors, the PICU, the nurses...so that is much less stressful. On the other hand, I am also now much more familiar with Henry, and for some reason it seems scarier than it did when he was first born. (Hard to explain, so I won't try...)

You wouldn't know anything was wrong just to look at him of course, with that adorable belly (he's got to be 13 lbs. by now) and smile that just melts your heart. He's taken to sucking on his whole hand--because obviously a thumb is not enough--and managed two nights of 8 hours of sleep in a row. [Sadly, we are now back into a strange pattern that isn't really a pattern which means Mama over here can never rest without wondering when he will wake up.]

This will be our first adventure in a hotel room with the little man, which should be a good practice for the longer stay we have coming up in a couple weeks. I doubt any sleep will be had by anyone, but one can always hope.

Three months will be here soon...
