Bonus Day
I woke up too early this morning, most likely with anticipation about what we'd hear regarding the plan for Henry's surgery. The fact that the cardiac surgery team is even considering a less invasive option is yet another unexpectedly positive indicator of how his heart has developed. Sarah and I have a feeling they won't go this route, because while less invasive, it does also limit what can be done compared to an open heart procedure.
We arrived to find out he snacked all night. This kid loves to eat so far! During the morning rounds, we learned they're going push his surgery a day (to Tuesday) to give our hungry boy more time to eat, learn to be a baby, and see what else his heart might do on its own.
So, we got a bonus day with Henry. Instead of a battery of pre-surgery tests and consults, we could just hang out, hold him, feed him, and watch him wriggle and make cute poopy faces. We didn't know if we'd get to even hold him before surgery, so every bit of this has been a gift.
We finished the day with dinner with my parents, who arrived from New York this afternoon to help us through the coming weeks.
